49ers' problems in the RED ZONE is a source of consternation this season, and have also resulted in record-breaking barrage of points, David Akers.

Connor dies at 78: Former 49ers wide receiver Clyde Conner, who caught 203 passes during the eight-year career (1956-1963) in San Francisco, died at his home in Los Altos on December 12. He was the 78th


A native of Tuttle, Oklahoma, Conner attended the University of the Pacific, where he also played basketball. His best season was 1958, when he caught 49 permit, including five for touchdowns.


Briefly: Rookie guard Daniel Kilgore worked the first time. ... Shawntae Spencer was active second straight week, a sign that replaced Tramaine Brock as the No. 4 cornerback. Brock has been inactive for the first time you played, when healthy this season. ... Ted Ginn suffered an ankle injury in the second half kickoff and did not return.
